General information on system separation A backflow preventer separates the drinking-water system from the consumer system and protects drinking water from contamination by the backflow of substances from the consumer system. A backflow preventer is installed between the municipal drinking-water system and one or more consumers. These must be separated in accordance with Category 5 of the current drinking water regulations contained in DIN EN 1717.

The DVGW-certified, fully automated and pre-connected backflow prevention station must ensure that drinking water and Category 5 fluids are separated in accordance with DIN EN 1717. The integrated pump delivers water to consumers as required from a separation feed tank. The water level in the separation feed tank is regulated by a float valve. The drinking-water network and an emergency overflow are connected to the separation tank.
